What is ‘WAF’?

The Wisconsin Architects Foundation (WAF) is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to enhancing public awareness of architecture and strengthening the profession through education and knowledge sharing. WAF is committed to building a better Wisconsin and advancing the profession of architecture by awarding scholarships to Wisconsin architecture students and grants for educational programs and research initiatives.

Did you know?

  • If you are a member of AIA Wisconsin, you are a member of WAF! This means that you are already a part of this important organization that is working to make Wisconsin a more beautiful and livable place.
  • Anyone is eligible to apply for grants and scholarships. This means that even if you are not a member of AIA Wisconsin or an architecture student, you can still benefit from WAF’s programs.
  • WAF has awarded more than half a million dollars in scholarships to Wisconsin architecture students. This money has helped countless students pursue their dreams of becoming architects and designing the buildings and spaces that we all use and enjoy.
  • WAF established the School of Architecture and Urban Planning at UW-Milwaukee. This school is now one of the leading architecture programs in the country, and it is thanks to WAF’s vision and support that it exists.

WAF is a vital part of the Wisconsin architecture community, and it is making a real difference in the lives of people all over the state.

How WAF is building a better Wisconsin:

  • WAF scholarships are helping to make architecture education more accessible to students from all backgrounds. This is important because diversity in the architecture profession leads to more creative and innovative designs.
  • WAF grants support educational programs and research initiatives that are advancing the field of architecture. This work is helping to create more sustainable, equitable, and resilient communities.
  • WAF is working to raise public awareness of architecture and its importance to our society. This is essential for building support for the profession and for creating communities that are truly livable and inspiring.

If you care about architecture and want to make a difference in Wisconsin, we encourage you to get involved with WAF. There are many ways to support the organization, such as making a donation, attending an event, or volunteering your time.
